am I doing it right?

when running a 5-man, I find myself just spamming fireball and pyroblast! on hot streak procs.

I'm finding my dps is pretty low compared to physical dps classes, though.

am I doing something wrong, or is this just a matter of melee classes scaling exponentially with heirloom weapons?
DPS doesn't matter until you're level 85.

As long as you're not getting kicked just sit back and enjoy.
I WAS WONDERING THE SAME THING. I ALWAYS SEEM TO BE FOURTH IN DAMAGE. ATLEAST I KNOW IM NOT ALONE
Go arcane = WIN
1: Switch to Arcane.
2: Put Arcane Blast on keys 1-0.
3: Apply face to keyboard.
4: Repeat step 3.

If you realise how boring it is before the aneurism gets you, switch to Frost like I did. Also:
