Frost/Fire?

Can you be both? I like my frost spec the most and I'm starting to enjoy fire a lil too, but they require different stats right? Like I would be that successful in fire if I don't get more crit but then again I won't be good in frost if I don't get more mastery right?

So Is there away I can get both stats to be what It needs to be or do I have to get separate gear for them?

You probably need 2 sets of gear to be really optimized for each spec, but the main difference is that mastery isn't a very strong stat for fire. Fire needs lots of haste and crit to be really effective; frost doesn't need haste quite as much. That said, both specs are going to want to stack INT as the most important stat, and cap HIT to the spell cap (17%).

Until you're seriously raiding, 1 set of gear with as much INT, hit (but not over 17%) and crit as you can find will be fine.

Frost isn't used very much in PvE (dungeons or raids), because it doesn't do sustained dps as well as either arcane or fire. If you're doing Frost PvP, you want a completely different set of gear (with resilience).

Fire favors crit which you know, frost stacks mastery for heavy shatters.

If you want to play optimally, you'll want two sets. Some peices you'll share but you'll definitely want some offpeices or you'll have to constantly reforge each time you switch.
i had this same issue pop up for my mage... but i finally decided to go all out fire... i am fire for 2v2 with a healer... fire for rbgs... now i go fire for 3v3 with a frost mage/disc... (fire is more fun) go fire because its better in rbgs... and good in 3v3 with the right comp...
need 2 sets of gear. Nice thing about going frost/arcane is you share the 2ndary stat of mastery. Of course many other classes with 2 specs have to do the same thing such as a pally or druid.
You can use trinkets to offset some of the difference. You could make frost your primary and get a good crit based trinket for fire. It won't be the best, but I'm sure it could work. I do it in pve, but I'm sure it could carry over. Only thing that sucks is that unless your human, you'll need one trinket slot going to your pvp trink.

I'm not sure how awesome fire is for arenas. I suck at arenas. Still, you farm get some pve gear for battlegrounds and go fire on those. A good half pvp half pve set works great for tearing up battlegrounds.
