Here is my Mage. I just got the 4pc tonight, and went immediately to the dummy. Its hard to believe but I think ive got a 2k dps loss...
How is this?
Does the rotation change with the 4pc bonus? Im trying to optimize the uptime of AP.
My rotation that I tried was ABx4-Trinket/AP/Mirror-Burn phase til 30% Evoc then Conserve while using Flame Orb and AP as it comes off CD. I seem to burn through mana like a beast now though.
What changes with the 4pc bonus?
EDIT: Wow... L2 Read the tooltip. Forgot that AP increases mana costs by 10%...
Makes me wonder if I should go Fire now... I burn through ALOT of mana...
Dont want to if I dont have to though. Im really good with Arcane, and terrible at Fire.

Update: So, I respecced fire. And reforged to What I believe is optimal for my gear.
Here's what im noticing on a target dummy. ( I understand an accurate representation of dps cannot be determined on a dummy but bear with me)
As Arcane, during my burn phase I could get up to 39k , and come back down after that to rest at around 25k dps on conserve phase.
After respeccing to fire, im having trouble hitting 22k on the dummy. Sometime I spike up to 24k but it drops back down to 21-22k after that.
I know fire is supposed to be better. And I want to be fire so bad, but the numbers arent adding up for me. I could REALLY use some help ><
So if there's any fight that is NOT a good indication of fire mage DPS... it's a target dummy. You're missing out on a LOT. for example...
haste. fire mages reforge specifically to 2005 haste. with a 5% buff from a shaman/boomkin/spriest that'll put right at a break point for an extra tick of Combustion.
crit. fire mages live and breath crit. trying to get a feel for fire mage DPS without 5% crit is silly.
With that four piece bonus and fire, you should be prepared to settle for smaller combusts. Without the four piece from T12, you really can't rely on those big combusts like before. But there is a trade off, and it is worth it, especially for a lot of the DS fights.
Your best bet is to /lfr and see it all there in practice. target dummy unfortunately doesn't show you much.

You mention smaller Combusts. Pardon my ignorance but Fire is rather foreign to me. Currently im waiting for the sun and moon to align basically. I use combustion helper, and at the moment dont typically use Combustion until ive got ALL my DoTs ticking.
Are you saying this is something I should steer away from now? I appreciate the help btw.

Imo, that would be a very fight specific question, but in general I don't think it's worth to lose all that crit for another combustion tick. Most mages I have seen are running with 1505. I haven't run any numbers or anything. The 1505 is mostly a generalization for 2 piece, NP, and raid buff. But if you are consistantly getting DI, or are a goblin, or even haste proc trinkets, it can influence how you gear for haste.
Should I reforge to get to 1505? Or is that only if I have the 2pc bonus and not the 4pc?
I would imagine i should shoot for 2005 since, the ramp up time for the 500 haste is a little slow, and resets after combustion, right?
it depends if u got the DS insignia haste trinket.. if u dont i suggest getting 1905 or maybe 1805 if your feeling lucky.. cause the waiting time juz to get all 10 stacks isnt worth it.. and it will most probably be equal to the amount of time saved..
if u do then go all the way down to 1505 cause u should be able to get a a FBall+Pyro Ignite anyway thus gaining that 1 extra tick from combustion from the insignia trinket..
and if u dont.. your stolen time stack should already be around 10 stacks by the time the buff ends.. so its a win/win
regarding your OP of why your dps has dropped for arcane.. is because the dmg buff gained shifted from the burn phase to your conserve phase.. as it allows u to use 2 APs during your conserve phase when u stacked your stolen time to max..
