@ Monday

You are not welcome here -_-

Good morning friends.
well played sir

Mana Gems could use some reworking.

Exactly what the title says. Specifiaclly the amount of charges and cooldown. For arcane, AP is on 1.5 min cooldown with talents...why doesn't Improved Mana Gem affect the CD to match this? As with the damage increase from the talents it makes the most sense to use them in conjunction. IMO 5 charges of Mana Gem static and have Imp Mana Gem also reduce CD to 1.5 min.
you still have to wait till evocation has around 30 seconds left anyways so it wouldn't make a difference.

Fire mage trinkets

So at the moment I'm using Necromantic Focus and Rune of Zeth but in the upcoming week Bottled Wishes will become available and i was wondering if it would be worth it to switch out one of the two trinkets i currently have for it. I'm not at 2005 haste yet which is why I'm wondering if it will be worth it.

Thanks for the help.
The VP trinket pulls a head by only 80 or so DPS over both of the trinkets your using according to a sim I used. Buying the Cape and wand should be your first VP purchases, unless you get the Zon'ozz wand this lockout.

It's a decent trinket but It's lack of pure intellect as a static stat makes it weaker than other VP pieces. As far as the 2005 soft-haste plateau there's a few reforges or other pieces of gear you can pick up that will bring you to it. The well of eternity ring being one them.

VPLC is still pretty strong compared to what's available in DS, if you can get your guild to put a 10 man FL together.
Why would you buy the wand, when the Boots, Neck, Ring, wrists are all a better dps upgrade
Insignia of the Corrupted Mind
For all of your haste desires.
Necromantic Focus is really not a great Fire trinket, so i m sure that would be a significant upgrade over it.

Frost PvP questions

Ok me and my buddy were brainstorming and yes ik this is like 1 research time away but im lazy atm and was wondering... mastery, haste,or crit. stat priorities im confused. they all same decent
Well a little more research time would find you this ;)

:P ty
I don't know the length of 1 research time. The OP response providing the link only tells us that the response was during the same day of the OP. That's also all that I know about the OP's response of gratitude for the link formally expressed :P ty. Hence, I will never know if it was worth it for the OP to ask this here. This ruined my day.

Another, What's better thread!

Dragonfire Orb+ Rathrak, the Poisonous Mind OR Lightning Rod as a FIRE mage.

I'm not really sure because i'm going to have to reforge alot of my gear if i roll with dagger+offhand. with the staff (and when i'm in pve gear) I'm at exactly 17% hit (Amazing i know right)
Lightning Rod, unless its a heavy AOE fight.
Rathrak and dragonfire are better, even on single target fights.
Thankyou hiroran, and thanks for copying my trans >:(

MageManaBar 1.72: More than Mana Management

Hello everyone. I am copy-pasting the text below the break on behalf of Angayelle, the mod author of MageManaBar and CombustionHelper. He is unable to post on these USA forums.

Angayelle will still be reading this thread, however, so if you have comments, questions or feedback... feel free to mention it all here and i'll copy/paste any responses he has for you.

----

This is the new thread for version 1.72 release of MageManaBar. As always, have fun and report to me any bugs and requests.

For more skins and settings, have a look at:
http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1003973-MageManaBar-1.7-Mana-management-but-not-only

So let me present again this wonderful addon of mine to people who haven't heard about it yet.

This is aimed to be the ultimate Mana Bar for Mages. Arcane Mages specifically will find many of MageManaBar's features invaluable in helping to manage Mana optimally and refine their gameplay. About the gameplay suggestions present in MageManaBar, let me say again that they are totally optional, if you don't like it, just remove it. And if you feel it's making Arcane too much easy to play and allow what you call noobs to top the meters as they shouldn't be able to, i'm sorry but this is the goal of this addon : help mages getting the best of what they can do.

But there is nice things for skilled players too with unique features never seen before (by me at least...) like Mana overflow report, mage armor tick cooldown, spell cost indication and so on.

Anyway, have a look and as always send me feedback and suggestions here or on curse : http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/magemanabar.aspx

• It will always show your real Mana Pool by ignoring temporary Int Buffs which distort your Mana % on standard Unitframes (Eg: Darkmoon Card: Volcano, Power Torrent, Synapse Springs etc).
• Marker at 35% Mana to show where Evocation can be used without wasting Mana (Factors in ~2 ticks of Mage Armor whilst channeling).
• Marker at (Max Mana - 12 405) to show where Mana Gem can be used without wasting any Mana.
• Marker for "Next Mage Armor Tick". (Showing how much Mana the next tick of Mage Armor will give). Featuring autohide when not present in fire/frost spec. NEW !
• Marker for Flame Orb mini burn. (Showing how much mana you should regen through AM spam).
• Marker for Arcane Torrent.
• Timers for Evocation, Mana Gem, Flame Orb, Arcane Torrent and Mage Armor (Ticks).

Also featuring a tag list to choose whatever info you want in the style you want (Absolute Cur/Max HP, Cur/Percent mana, Absolute Cur/Max mana, Mastery, Spellpower, Time To Die and many more !!).
• Realtime information of mana overflow and lost mana due to end of intellect procs. You will know each time how much mana is wasted in chat report with a summary at the end of the fight to help you refine your gameplay.
• Optional advanced gameplay suggestions during fight based on your cooldowns and tested theorycrafted concepts to help you mastering Arcane way of managing mana. You can also enable or disable any of theses suggestions if it doesn't fit your way of playing.
• Advanced customisation options for all elements of the addon. You can change colors, textures, fonts, size, alpha, ordering of elements. Everything is optional and can be disabled to make MageManaBar what you always dreamed of.
• Arcane explosion manager. Once you use AE with an AB buff the warning panel will show your AE casts on a timer representing your AB Debuff, also showing the current cast time needed to refresh it. Cross the red section and you'll be unable to refresh in time ! NEW!
• Getting closer to UnitFrame replacement with the player menu when right clicking on frame and player selection when left clicking, casting bar and alternate power bar. NEW !

Right now, version 1.72 release is vailable at : http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/magemanabar in the other download section, have a look and report me.

USE THE RESET BUTTON IN INTERFACE /OPTIONS WHEN UPGRADING FROM BETA TO RELEASE VERSION OR IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEM
I'm trying to get this addon, but there seems to be a prob with curse, browser keeps closing. Another thing I noticed is curse only seems to have vers 1.6.2
You need to go to the Other downloads section to download the v1.7 because it is still in beta.
ok, just found it in other downloads, managed to download it, but curse page still seems to sometimes close my browser when I copy/paste
"http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/magemanabar"

looking forward to trying it out :)
Love the new arcane explosion manager thing. Thanks for all the work on this addon.
hi
Updated OP with 1.72 release.
I really like the AE tracking, it's a great mod, I had my doubts at first, but it really is a great little piece of tracking software. The refinements make it useful for mages who never had an issue tracking mana.

Clicker to button pusher mage

Hi everyone, I am trying to convert myself from a clicker to a button pusher as a Frost mage. In my 5 years playing this game I have gotten by using w,a,s,d to move and clicking everything. In my time playing I have always heard that clickers are at a disadvantage as far as reaction time and getting spells off efficiently. I really enjoy playing this class and wanted to know how some of you configure your spells...this is for PvP or PvE, doesnt really matter.

For me I have as follows:

1 - Frostbolt
2 - Ice Lance
3 - Deep Freeze
4 - Cone of Cold
5 - Frostfirebolt
R- Frost Nova
Mouse wheel when clicked - Blink

All of the rest I click (ice block, barrier spells, etc.). At this point I'm still getting used to this whole button thing and moving my character with the mouse and I guess I should change "a" and "d" to my strafe buttons? Any extra help would be great!

That's a good start.
There's plenty of options for keybindings.
I personally put my main spells on 1 - 5, then use the following for other things.

R, C, X, ~ (next to 1), Caps, Z, F,
Shift 1, Shift 2, Shift 3, Shift 4, Shift 5, Shift R, Shift F.

I use R for counterspell, shift R for spellsteal,
things like that.

I keep all my spells that I use often well within reach.
I also keep other spells between 6 through = that I use now and then.

Though not needed, I would recommend a Razor Naga.
It can be hard to get use to, but once you can use every button on it without thinking about it,
there is no better tool.

Good luck!
Hope this helped a little :)

1 - Frostfire Bolt
2 - Frostbolt
3 - Ice Lance
4 - Deep Freeze
5 - Pet Freeze
6 - Blizzard
7 - Cone of Cold
8 - Cold Snap
9 - Ice Barrier

1 - Presence of Mind
2 - Arcane Blast
3 - Arcane Missles
4 - Arcane Barrage
5 - Arcane Explosion
6 - Don't remember...
7 - Evocation

1 - Living Bomb
2 - Pyroblast
3 - Fireball
4 - Fireblast
5 - Blast Wave
6 - Flamestrike
7 - Dragon's Breath

- is Frost Nova, = is Blink, but Blink is also bound to Mouse Button 5. And Frost Nova and Blink are in the same space, every spec.
`~ <- tilde key is Counterspell. Shift Mouse Button 4 is Ice Block, Shift Mouse Button 5 is Invis.
I think that's it. These are at least mostly correct. xD

Edit: Really should start using preview... >__>
Razor naga mouse to help you convert.90$ but well worth the investment.
I second the suggestion to get a Naga mouse. Those extra 12 buttons on your thumb are a great asset.

You probably want to be sure that "cast on keydown" is turned on so that the benefits of faster reaction time you are getting from using keybinds instead of clicking translates fully to the game.

Another tool you can use to help train yourself to use the keybinds is to simply hide your actionbars after you setup the keybinds. You can't click something if you cant see it. For things that you need to see cooldowns for, you can use a cooldown monitor (like Sexy Cooldown Bar) or power auras / weak auras.
^agreed. naga is very nice, and there are 2 different versions now I think. They're both the same, except one is wireless, or it is an option to be wireless.

Thanks for the tips guys! I have never heard of the Naga mouse, but ill look into that and if it doesnt break the bank I'd be game to try it out.
Any extra mouse buttons are helpful. I don't have a Naga, but it's nice to have interrupts, Polymorph, etc. on a mouse click.
You don't need a naga to use key bindings at all, use normal keys 1-7 , Shift 1-7, alt 1-4 and then RTY/FGH/CVB
Don't forget ` and zxcv.

Also, it's helpful to keep like abilities similar across characters.

My interupt is r on nearly all my toons.
CC is c.
Mouse over focus is Z.
DPS CD is v.
You get the idea....

Another helpful thing is to use a shift modifier for your focus macros.

So shift r is focus interrupt.
Shift c is focus CC.
Etc.
